Victorian Day

On Friday 10th November, we experienced what it was like to go to school in the Victorian era. We came to school dressed up as a school child would in that time period. In the morning, we learnt how to correctly write in Victorian style. We learnt that you have to write at a 60-degree angle and with your right hand. Then we found out lots of interesting facts about our school and its history. Next, we looked at some historic events that happened at Mayhill, like when the school playground was used by the Prince and Princess of Wales on the occasion of Lord Soame’s funeral. The teachers were also pretending to be Victorian (we are pleased teaching has changed since)!
