D-Day

On 6^th June 2024, it is 80 years since D-day. This is an event which was meant to take place on 5^th June 1944 but due to bad weather it happened on 6^th June 1944.We had an assembly so that we could learn more about D-day and what actually happened. We learnt that up to 7,000 ships and landing craft were involved, delivering a total of 156,000 men and 10,000 vehicles to the five beaches along the carefully selected stretch of the Normandy coast. On the 6^th we designed bunting to commemorate all of the people who lost their lives and were part of the D-day landings. It was hung up around the outside of the school.
