The Highwayman

In English we have been reading a poem called the highwayman, by Alfred Noyes. We started to read though and familiarize ourselves with the text. In this learning journey, the outcome was to write a love letter. We learnt about using commas to avoid confusion, to mark clauses, in a list (like this) and in speech. Our favorite example was, “Let’s eat Grandma!” and “Let’s eat, Grandma!”, which helps us understand that punctuation really does save lives! We have also learnt about some Old English terms like ‘thy’, ‘thou’, and ‘thee’, which helps us to capture the idea that it has been written between the 1700 and 1800. At the end of our learning journey we published our letters in an old ink pen, we even used wax to seal the letters.
