A titanic adventure

Year 4 step back in time for a Titanic Day. This was an area of fascination for the children and we were so proud of the critical thinking they showed when discussing historical facts. The children compared and contrasted different time periods through experiencing class differences and investigated what life was like on the Titanic for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers compared to now. Even though some of the lucky 1st class passengers even got hot chocolate and a chocolate biscuit, all children still showed amazing respect to their peers. Well done. We investigated primary and secondary sources of information, invented and communicated our own stories of how we came to have the artefacts today. To finish the day we used a literacy skill called the ‘diamond nine’ to understand the consequences of the Titanic disaster on the present day. What a busy Friday for us!
